The Carter Center
The Carter Center is a nonpartisan not-for-profit organization based in Atlanta, Georgia. The Carter Center has led international election observation efforts for decades and is now engaging in similar efforts here at home. Montana was among the handful of states they selected to participate in this pilot project this year. Since 1989, The Carter Center has observed 124 elections in 40 countries and 3 Native American nations. The Maureen and Mike Mansfield Center at the University of Montana
Founded by an Act of Congress in 1983 and grounded in rural Montana, the Mansfield Center fosters globally minded leaders of integrity. The Center honors Senator Mansfield’s legacy of patriotic statesmanship by bridging divides from a variety of perspectives, unified by a love of country and commitment to democracy. Guided by Senator Mansfield’s example, the work of the Mansfield Center emphasizes civil exchanges of ideas from a diverse range of viewpoints, the importance of democratic institutions, the integration of international relations, and the role that ethical values play in public life.
